12.30.20 | “A Tale of Two Kings” | Matthew 2:13-23 Bible Study

For more details, please visit Min. Danny’s blog post on this Matthew 2:13-23 Bible Study.

This is a continuation of last week’s lesson on Matthew 2:1-12 (“What Are You Getting Christ For Christmas?”)

Matthew 2 presents us with a true tale of two kings: King Herod and King Jesus. The question is: which king will we choose to imitate?

Herod did not want to give up his throne to Christ. Are we unwilling to give Christ the throne of our lives?

Will we be like Herod – letting nothing get in the way of the pursuit of our selfish ambitions? Or will we give ourselves to Christ? Will we surrender to the Savior? Will we come to the King?

Are we willing to follow the Leader? Are we willing to follow our Lord who was despised and rejected by the world – since Day 1?

If the world hated Christ – even as a baby – the world will hate Christians.

But the troubles and tyrants of this world are temporary, and the one who endures to the end will be saved.

So let’s not be ashamed of the Gospel (Rom 1:16), let’s not be afraid to proclaim God’s word to this ungodly world. Because we know God is in control of the world.

Like Herod, people can try to fight it – but in the end – God’s will will be done.
