Twelve years ago I was installed as the second pastor in the history of the Alpha Baptist Church’s history. At the time, I wasn’t sure what the Lord had in store for us. Within the first few months, it became very clear that “God is With Us!” For twelve years, God has blessed our fellowship tremendously. We have experienced unbelievable numerical growth as well as financial growth. Yet, the most important blessing has been the spiritual growth of the membership. There is visible transformation everywhere.
Twelve years ago we were in survival mode. Today we are a thriving church with great expectations as to what God wants to do with us. We take very seriously the Scripture that reminds us that, “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded” (Luke 12:48). We have so much to thank God for. The increase belongs to the Lord and we are drinking from the saucer (the overflow).
Twelve years ago we challenged our community to “Look At Us!” (Acts 3:4b), and they have. We have truly become a community church and our community knows it. It is my pleasure to pastor such a great church in such a great community. As we become more Missional Minded, we will see more clearly the needs of our community and become an even greater instrument for the Lord’s Service.
Twelve years ago I accepted the call to pastor Alpha. It has not been easy, but it has been very rewarding personally for my family and me. I thank my wife, First Lady Linda and my sons, Danny Jr. and Terrance, for sharing me with our church and community. Only I know the sacrifices they each have made so that I might pastor Alpha. Thank you Alpha for your love, support and understanding as I have given my all to serve as your pastor. I look forward to ten more years, “if the Lord says so”!
