This is the second lesson in our Bible Study series on the letter of James, which was live streamed on April 8, 2020.
It’s hard to consider it all joy and regard trials as opportunities for growth in our Christian character (Jas 1:2-4, which we studied last week (“Growing Pains”)). James 1:5-8 essentially tells us that, if we can’t see things this way, we need wisdom — godly wisdom.
This wisdom is given by God to all who ask Him in faith (i.e., active trust, commitment). Those who waver in their commitment to God like waves on the sea should not expect to receive wisdom. They are unstable in all they do.
*Update: I mistakenly forgot the last clause of James 1:5 (“and it will be given to you”) on the slideshow. The correction has been made

27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. (Jas 1:27, NIV)
